Award Winner – Mrs. Eudoxie Labiche Harvie

Today, we honour Eudoxie Labiche Harvie, recipient of the Special Mention Award at the Seychelles Arts Awards 2025.

For more than 40 years, Eudoxie has been a true guardian of Seychelles’ culture and heritage. Through theatre, music, dance, storytelling, and education, she has worked tirelessly to safeguard living traditions and ensure they continue to inspire new generations.

Since joining the Ministry of Culture in 1980, Eudoxie’s journey has been one of passion and influence. The distinctions she earned, such as Director for Special Events and Director of the Seychelles National Troupe, became platforms from which she inspired others, nurtured talent, and showcased Seychelles’ rich heritage. These were not simply titles, but acknowledgements of her devotion and the way she breathed life into culture itself.

Eudoxie recognized the deep connection between heritage and the natural environment, and this belief inspired much of her work. It was at the heart of her drive to establish heritage clubs in schools, and it was one of the reasons she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Culture at the University of Caen in Normandy — enriching her mission to keep Seychelles’ culture alive in every space it touches.

Beyond her achievements, Eudoxie has been a mentor and guide to countless young artists and cultural practitioners. She helped shape their journeys, offering encouragement, wisdom, and opportunities for them to shine. Her legacy lives not only in her own work but also in the voices, dances, and stories of those she has uplifted.

Eudoxie’s story is a shining reminder that culture is not just about where we come from— it is a living, breathing part of who we are and who we are becoming.
