COLLOQUIUM TO COMMEMORATE SEYCHELLES’ 40TH FESTIVAL KREOL – 22 to 23rd OCTOBER 2025

Festivals and Fêtes as a Forum for Identity Making and Heritage Conservation

The Seychelles National Institute for Culture, Heritage and the Arts, and the University of Seychelles invite scholars and cultural activists of the Indian Ocean Creole zone to submit abstracts for a contribution in a colloquium celebrating 40 years of the Seychelles Creole Festival. The colloquium will focus on the role played by the Seychelles ‘Festival Kreol’ itself, and other fêtes and festivals in the Indian Ocean region, in the process of identity making and heritage conservation. This general theme will be explored through four sub-themes representing the strong points of the Seychelles ‘Festival Kreol’ throughout its 40 years of existence.

COLLOQUE DANS LE CADRE DU 40ÈME FESTIVAL KREOL DES SEYCHELLES – 22 AU 23 OCTOBRE 2025

Le rôle des Festivals et Fêtes dans la construction de l’identité et la conservation du patrimoine

L’Institut National des Seychelles pour la Culture, le Patrimoine et les Arts, ainsi que l’Université des Seychelles, invitent les chercheurs et les acteurs culturels de la zone créole de l’océan Indien à soumettre des résumés pour une contribution dans un colloque célébrant les 40 ans du Festival Créole des Seychelles.  Le colloque se concentrera sur le rôle joué par le ‘Festival Kreol’ des Seychelles, ainsi que d’autres fêtes et festivals dans la région de l’océan Indien, dans le processus de construction de l’identité et de conservation du patrimoine. Ce thème général sera exploré à travers quatre sous-thèmes représentant les points forts du ‘Festival Kreol’ des Seychelles au cours de ses 40 ans d’existence.
