48th session of the World Heritage Committee in Busan

At the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee in Busan, we marked the 20th anniversary of the African World Heritage Fund, a key milestone in advancing a more representative and balanced #WorldHeritage List and reaffirming UNESCO’s commitment to #PriorityAfrica.

Over the past two decades, the Fund has worked with Member States, local communities, heritage professionals and partners to strengthen capacities, support new World Heritage nominations and promote the long-term conservation of heritage across the continent.

As the challenges facing heritage continue to evolve, protecting it means more than safeguarding places. It means supporting sustainable development, strengthening communities, preserving knowledge and creating opportunities for future generations.
