A Presidential Salute to Our Dance Champions!

Today marked a truly special moment for the arts as Team Seychelles, fresh from their victorious journey at the WADF Russia Competition, were invited for a Meet and Greet with the President of the Republic of Seychelles at State House.

The delegation—seven dancers and two of the three judges—received heartfelt congratulations from the President for their remarkable achievements and for proudly flying the Seychelles flag high on the international stage.

As part of the celebration, the dancers delivered a vibrant live demonstration of two of their winning routines.

During the meeting, several important topics were discussed, including a major milestone: Seychelles was the first country to introduce the Dancehall style at the competition—making history as the first group to perform Dancehall at WADF Russia Competition. Thanks to this groundbreaking moment, Dancehall will now officially become a category in future editions of the competition.

The President also shared his thoughts on the immense talent within Seychelles’ performing arts scene. He expressed his belief that greater focus and effort should be dedicated to the performing arts going forward, as it is a powerful space for expression, national pride, and opportunity.

Today was more than just a celebration—it was a strong recognition of the power of our artists and a call to support and uplift the performing arts in Seychelles, especially for our young, upcoming artists.
